ksh's Review of Mountain Equipment Lightline Insulated Jacket - Men's

I liked the material and Jacket design.
the fitting is such that it won't feel bulky.

This is more than enough for winter in North Carolina. Haven't tested yet in northern winters. Will update once I do so.
Pros:
- Excellent material. Shell feels tough, and I did not experience down leak.
- Shoulder, arms and hood fitting is really nice.
- Is pretty warm
- 2-way front zipper (My key point choosing this jacket)

Cons - if I have to say.
- Torso is really long. I am just 5'2" and length won't look good at all. 2-way zipper feature help me treat this jacket like a parka and that way it's good.
- Mid torso is not that roomy, if you have slightly higher mid section, then will be difficult
- it's stitch through construction, so one can easily see and feel the insulation spots.

If you are lean and tall, this would make excellent fit. Volume and quality of down is highest in this price range. Looks good, not at all bulky look for the warmth.

Serviceability of this jacket for extended time (say 10 years) may not be easy as Mountain equipment support is NOT as great as that of TNF or Patagonia.
Pros:
  • Build quality
  • Down Fill quality and Total wt of down filled
  • Design and Looks
  • Very low down leak (I haven't experienced any)
Cons:
  • Color I choose - Blaze
  • Torso is too long. Fit is for lean and tall folks
Best Used for:
  • Backcountry usage
  • Limited city use. Not so good for office wear.
