I had been looking for a soft shell jacket with a bit of fleece lining and was thrilled to come across this one. I have to say I am already a Mountain Hardwear fan - it's the first brand I look at when looking for hiking apparel. This is a well made and designed coat. I wanted a jacket for fall and spring. I wear it when it's between 30 and 50 degrees with a light base layer. But I run a lot warmer than most people, so others may find it's more for 50+ degrees. I am 5'3 and 142 pounds and I wear a large in M.H. That gives me room to layer underneath. The sleeves are a bit long on me but that works well for keeping my hands warm.

This had all of the makings to be a GREAT shell...long length, thumb holes, stood up to the wind. But when it came down to it, there was a pretty major design flaw that I wouldn’t have expected from MH. The zipper, when zipped all the way up, scratched my face so bad that I couldn’t justify keeping it. Why there are jackets anymore that don’t have the zipper guard, I will never understand. Super sad—it was so close.
