I really wanted to love this bag. I bought it for an Alaska/NW day bag and for day hikes.
I like Mountain Hardware clothing. This bag was clearly outsourced as it doesn't live up to it's own hype.
It doesn't come with a water tight zipper like other packs I own. While I do understand that those zippers are difficult to use on a pack, they do seem to work. Instead, MH has built a material flap over their zipper to protect it.
Two issues.
1. The zippers do not match up together well and there is a visible gap so be careful where you decide to land them.
2. Water will bounce off your rain jacket hood and land under the zipper flap and easily leak inside. It's not drenching ingress, but it does mean you should protect your gear inside as needed, which also means you should just use a different pack with traditional water bottle and divider pockets for storage.
This bag is not terrible, and it's not terrific. I think a design where the flap faces rearward and is lower on the main body would have been a better solution to using a standard zipper.
Pros:
Good value when on sale/closeout
Cons:
Not water resistant enough for valuables
Best Used for:
Rainy day hikes
Would recommend: No
