Bought this large volume waterproof pack to fit a need for light weight longer journeys. It's not fun anymore to carry a big heavy backpack full of heavy stuff. I have the M/L size, measures about 26 inches long, 14 inches wide, 12 inches thick (roughly 4,400 cubic inches) and about 4.2 pounds. Does not look or feel like a "bomb-proof" pack. My old ArcTeryx Naos 85 is tougher, but 2.5 pounds heavier. I would not load the South Col 70 heavy (over 40 pounds) and expect it to hold up on a long hike. Good for light large volume travel (which is what I need).
