Love it, love it, love it!
We are desert rats for nearly 40 years. This year our adventure took us to Big Bend National Park, in TX. Our road trip took us 5000 miles in 20 days, camping all but one of those nights. Packing for this kind of trek is a big deal!
This year we decided to change from using 3 large RubberMaid containers to using 2 of these Hauler 3 Bags. CampSaver had only one Hauler 3 Bag in stock, so I ended up buying the other from REI. Both bags have a similar appearance but the REI bag systems has a few more functional features worth mentioning. An outer compression strap on the REI sold MountainSmith product was very useful as we consumed produce. Each individual bag for the system have plastic slip covers that could be used to label contents. I have no complaints and the Modular Hauler 3 System worked beautifully. The CampSaver system carried our hiking boots in one bag, CamelBack hydration packs in another, and rain gear in the third (can’t leave home without it, but hope you’ll not need it). None of this this equipment changes volume so the lack of compression straps was not missed. The other Modular Hauler 3 System carried food stuff, cans dry goods, etc. As a testament for strength and durability, this pack weighed nearly 80 lbs and took my wife and I to heft it into our rig.
