Most Helpful Positive Review The Whole Group is buying them
The leader of our women's hiking group was the first to own the MSRs. She raved about them so much, that another bought them and it caught on. Now 6 of us own them and more are planning to purchase. The only bad thing is that now all of our snowshoes look alike, but nothing that a permanent marker can't handle. They are awesome on the narrow mountain trails and work well when we bushwhack as well.

Durable with exceptional traction

by Duce, from WA, United States Written on November 30, 2021
MSR has the formula for snowshoes that work well in difficult terrain. Terrain where tubular framed snowshoes loose traction EVO's grip. Their durability is ledgendary and the snowshoe of choice for the USDA Forest Service Guided snowshoe program.

MSR evo snowshoes

by Hikindabob, from MT, United States Written on July 4, 2018
Great snowshoes! Super easy to use bindings. Only two straps for across the top of the foot compared to MSR Denali which have 3 straps. The local Forest Service office uses these for loaning to the general public and for environmental ed programs with the local schools. I bought these for my girlfriend... She won't be able to use them until winter. I have a pair of lightning axis shoes which I Love! MSR makes good shoes.
Pros:
  • Easy to use
  • durable
Cons:
  • Can be noisy on icy snow

EVO = Great Recreational Snowshoe

by Richard S., Written on January 27, 2017
Purchased the EVO snowshoe by MSR to get something smaller and lighter for general recreational snowshoeing and exercise, nothing too extreme. I'm about 170 lbs plus I usually carry about a 15-lb pack with water, snacks, safety gear, extra layers, etc. Breaking trail in about 20 inches of fresh snow I was wishing that I had bought the optional tails, which I have since purchased. Without the tails and with someone else breaking trail, the stock EVOs were great. On packed trails they are perfect and I love the smaller 22-IN length. The binding system is easy to work with in gloves and seems to hold tight on my Merrell Polars. My wife and her snowshoeing friends have various models of MSR snowshoes and they all love them and rate them highly. My wife does more serious snowshoeing and thinks the televators (heel lift) or her Ascends are a must-have for climbing. Great price and fast shipping from Campsaver!

Strong, Sturdy snowshoes that take abuse.

by Keith R., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on December 16, 2015
The EVO model is really tough. I have used these many times and I never worry about damaging them with rough terrain or when I run down hill. Since I am 210 lbs. and carry a heavy pack, I already know that many models or brands of snowshoes will not hold up to my abuse -- these do.
