The MSR Hyperflow is a great filtration system. What makes it great, besides its lightweight design is that every component is smartly engineered. This prefilter is a very important part of this system. The main filter inside the pump would not work nearly as well and would clog up way faster if all the large particulates were not filtered out before the water got to it.
