Don't be confused!
Stabilizing a MSR camp stove on a rocky uneven surface on the side of a mountain is what this base was made for.Along with a fold up windscreen and a good hinged heat shield is just what the doctor ordered.The legs on these stoves have a tendency to do what they want to do not what you want them to do.

MSR Footprint
I like that the footprint is exactly as I expected it to be. It is light enough to be a permanent item in my bag. Because it folds together, it fits in the carry bag that came with my stove. I like that all the items for the stove, including the footprint, can be stored and transported easily.

does job, but not in love with design
This stove base does do the job and I haven't found anything better, short of making it myself. Just not crazy about the way it fans out and could be designed to fold flatter. Definitely plenty of room for improvement.
