JustSomeDude's Review of Mystery Ranch District 24L Backpack

This is a great pack for EDC. The material seems very durable and is water resistant. Plenty of compartments to store all the gear you would need for a day at work, a day hike, or even traveling for a weekend. Although there are no exterior compression straps, the bag holds a very slim shape when not packed full and isn't overly baggy, yet when you do pack the bag full, the accordion style layout of the main compartment helps to keep the pack compressed and not bulgy looking. It's a very smart design. I'm was able to fit a 15" macbook and a 17" toshiba laptop in the padded sleeve, which has a false bottom that offers extra protection in case you would drop the bag. There is also a second sleeve where you could fit an ipad or other smaller tablet/laptop, along with 2 decent sized deep pockets that can fit a Maxpedition micro EDC pouch perfectly.

The outer "admin" compartment allows for quick access to items through the top flap, as well as the ability to unzip it and have full access to all the contents in that section. There are two smaller pockets that can fit pens, a flashlight, charging cords, an extra ammo magazine, etc. and a larger deeper pocket like the pockets in the main compartment that is perfect for a micro EDC pouch. There is also a small dump pocket on top of the pack where you could throw your keys, phone, or sunglasses.

The zippers are heavy duty and easy to operate and work well with the design of the pack in that you can completely unzip the main compartment if needed, or just unzip the pack enough to pull out your laptop or items in the top pockets. The outer water bottle pockets have enough flex and compression to hold a multitude of different sized water bottles and other items, but there is no way to really secure your bottle in the holder, so there is the possibility of items falling out if you bend over or when you are slinging the pack on or off. The back padding and straps are very comfortable, and the load lifters seem to do what they are intended to do.

The only nitpicking I can do is I wish it had some type of straps on the water bottle pockets so you could secure items better for peace of mind. I also wish they would've put some hook and loop on the interior similar to their Rip Ruck series for even more gear organization. Plus it would have been nice if there was a water bladder hydration port and some attachment loops on the bottom of the pack for more gear like a sleeping bag/pad if you did want to use it for an overnight hiking bag. Those additions would have really made this a real deal "all in one" type of pack, but as is, it's still a very well designed and well built EDC bag.
