This bag has it all,, for school work, for hiking , and for the office ..discreet bag that holds all your essentials in place. The waterproof zippers are a nice addition . I only gave it 4 stars because there was no bottle holder outside

I divide packs into 4 categories, outdoors, school, work, and travel, this is one of the few i one that can do all four(the other being topo core pack).

I got it in grey which when combined with minimal design lets it come to my office, the open main compartment is good for travel, the not quite clamshell design is good for school and the materials work in the outdoors, both in fortitude and comfort. The two access pockets are towards the top which is space usually unused. The straps are the ones from the urban assault packs and so comfy, they are overkill for the weights this can fit honestly. The laptop section fits my work 14in laptop easily and keeps it suspended from the ground.

Downsides; cost and weight considerations prevented an internal liner and the access pockets share internal volume, so they will affect main compartment if you're packing it full and vis versa. If you do pack it full, do main compartment first as adding things with access pockets full is cumbersome. Also, the 21l capacity limits this to long weekends(i can get 4 days of clothes in) or will make you find a laundry for longer trips.

None of these down checks really affect my use of the bag though, and with the $50 discount from msrp i got on this site makes this bag a no brainer for me for anyone looking for a 'one bag' to do it all
