Mystery Ranch Scree

First off, let me say the Scree is over built. Way over built, and that is amazing. At 32L, it is a very generous day pack. The pack can be used as a top loader or using the Y zipper (much like an autopsy incision ) be splayed open. The “lid” has 2 pockets for storage. The very sturdy (over built) plastic zippers are great and have a self sealing feature to help keep water and dirt out. On that note, there are 2 optional rain flys — one with and one without a hood. This is a must have for me since I am intimately familiar with Murphy. I became acquainted with the Murph while doing 10 years in the Army. I spent that time looking for a pack like this. The load bearing qualities of the Scree is what makes it unique. The fitting / sizing is unique to Mystery Ranch and really is incredible. It allows for the majority of the load to ride very comfortably on your hips. This results in me not having the posture of a jumbo shrimp at the end of the day. We all know that neck and shoulder ache. I am not afraid to over load this pack. In addition to those beefy zippers, there are 2 external compression straps and 2 vertical web straps that allow for external fixation of additional items. Now, we all know that most of our travel is limited by the amount of water we can tote. The Scree has a hydration bladder pocket that can hold 3.1L and also has 2 external pockets for water. bottles.
