I ordered the Nemo Hornet 2P tent based on recommendations from an ultralight group on Facebook. I was pleased to see that Camp Saver had the tent in stock at a great price! Pitching the tent was simple and provides ample space for myself and my gear! I can’t wait to take it out on my adventures in 2023!

I've taken the Hornet 2P out 2x now, so I can't speak to the longevity of its construction, but both times, it's been an excellent shelter. In the NC heat, the first time I set it up without the fly; the second, in the Virginia Highlands, I used the fly. (I also purchased and used the Hornet 2P footprint). Setting up is really straightforward: poles and connections are color-coded, so even in less than optimal light, it's not too difficult to figure out what goes where. I appreciate the loop in the ceiling: I strung a short length of 550 through them to create an attach point for a USB fan (if you've backpacked eastern NC in the summer, you get it!), which I've left in there ever since.

Without the fly, which has connection points for "volumizing" the main tent, I ran some of the included guylines to guy out the sides for more interior space, and this is where I discovered my one (very minor) quibble: minimally guying out this tent requires 7 stakes: two for the head, three for the foot (one point for the pole; two for the nylon stays in the corners), and 2 for the side guylines. I suppose you could sneak by with the six included stakes, but it really needs all seven, and that assumes you're not guying things out maximally. Nothing worth subtracting a star.

Even packed, the tent feels exceptionally light (compared to what I'm used to), and was no trouble to secure to the outside of my pack. Dividing it seems unnecessary -- which reminds me: it claims to be a true 2-person t...

Just slept in this tent for the first night. Held up great, it’s really light. It was a little confusing to set it up at first but I got the hang of it. Great one person tent, would be tight for two. I am 5’5” and fit perfectly, my boyfriend is 6’-0” and his feet and head hit the walls. Does not come with a footprint so I fashioned my own instead of buying one. Overall, really happy with it.

NEMO's Hornet is a great addition to my gear stash. It's a great ultralight option for someone looking for a freestanding tent without bulking up their bag. The flybars are sweet and add enough headroom that you can sit up without touching the top of the tent, and the guylines in the footbox keep your bag clear of the walls and condensation. It's a great price for what you get as well, seeing as most ultralight tents end up close to $500.
