Comfort in the outdoors

With the plethora of sleeping pads out there, why would one choose Nemo Equipment over others?

If you find yourself asking this question then listen to what I have to share.

Having owned a Nemo Cosmo Air 25L, I fell in love with the integrated pump which takes less effort to inflate your sleeping pad without breaking into a sweat. I brought both the Cosmo Air 25L and Vector Field Insulated 25L to fully inflation in about 80 pumps. The firmness can be adjusted by unlocking and depressing the micro-adjust valve.

I decided to purchase the 2018' Vector Field Insulated pad as I was sold by the claims and reviews online.

Improving on the design of the lower end pads, Nemo went with the "undulating lateral baffles" which provides not only stability when lying, sitting or laying prone but comes with a level of comfort unlike others.

The underside of the pad is also coated which not online resists puncture but provides grip, preventing the pad from sliding around.

Primaloft is also added to the underside of the surface which when combined with the 20D fabric provides softness which is similar to foam mattresses.

A nice addition is that the stuff sack includes a repair kit for field repairs.
Pros:
  • Soft, the loft provides a level of comfort that does not feel like you are sleeping on plastic
  • Lightweight, coming in at 1 lb , 13 oz / 810 g with the integrated pump
  • Support, the undulating lateral baffles provide ample stability for various postures
  • Warmth, the Thermal Mirror metalized film and Primaloft provides adequate insulation from the ground
  • Non-slip undercoat, provides grip while sleeping on slippery surfaces which also resists punctures
  • Compact, packs down to almost the size of a Nalgene bottle
Cons:
  • Price, retailing at $219.95 for the Long Wide version may turn away some
Best Used for:
  • Car Camping
  • Backpacking
  • Or even as a spare guest bed
