Reviews & Ratings for NRS STAR Pike Inflatable Fishing Kayak

The NRS Star Pike kayak is much as I expected. So far, I have unpacked, inflated, and deflated the item. I won't have it on the water for a few weeks because of our local high water situation. I selected the grey kayak and it appears to be a stealthy color. Unpacking and inflation were relatively easy, but the seat required assembly and although an owner's manual is included, it is generic to all star products and did not include any specific info. I'm not sure I got it right but it appears to work. The product appears to be solidly constructed. Having said that, it is quite heavy. I had visions of carrying ithe yak in to fishing locations using the included carrying pack with shoulder straps. Not so fast. If I were by myself, I would probably have to make two or three trips to hike in all my stuff-even for a day trip. Also, if you purchase one, remember how it comes out of the carrying bag, because folding it back up is not an intuitive process. Over all, I am happy with the purchase.
Pros:
Robust and solidly constructed.
Cons:
Documentation is poor. No instruction on seat hinge assembly. Included pump has a zillion extra connections and no info about their use.
Best Used for:
Easy access locations, too heavy to hike in to remote areas.
Would recommend: Yes
