Not good for hiking - Oboz Sypes Mid Leather B-DRY Hiking Shoes - Men's

After less than 20 miles of moderate hikes, I would never buy these again. Maybe these were better in previous years and got cheaper more recently.
The upper material and forefoot sole are weak and soft. Also, the lacing system is bad/cheap. Fine tuning the fit and tightness with the laces is a real chore. Size is as expected and correct for me, but the boots give in too much and feet move / slide within the boots under duress. Overall stability and comfort is not good.
OK in basic traction but if the sole is wet these can be very slick on log or rock surfaces.
Forefoot sole is very weak, soft and twisty. The forefoot sole has no balls area protection and get pressure points on bottom of foot from lug and ground contact. Not very comfortable on smooth paths or trails and feet feel fatigued every time I wear them regardless of sock thickness.
Ankle support is lower and bad, lacks decent padding, especially around the heel and ankle area, and the internal heel area seams can cause slight irritation. Heel part does lock in decently except when foot slides forward in shoe.
Medium arch foot bed looks nice but it lost its cushioning and rebound characteristics super quickly and material flattened is some areas.
However, I haven’t experienced any upper hotspots and the proprietary water proofing works ok so far.
I called Oboz to see if the boots and/or foot beds were possibly defective but they didn’t seem to care and wouldn’t even send replacement insoles. Oboz quality and service seems to be suffering now days.
Pros:
Toe room, low weight
Cons:
comfort, quality and stability lacking
Best Used for:
yard work
Would Recommend:
No
