These are really nice boots! They would have been keepers if they would have been wider. Very well constructed and comfortable in every way except the width. I think they'd require a bit of break-in because they were a little stiff, nothing unexpected there tho in a quality boot. I didn't ever wear them out on the trail just around the house to check the fit. The insole is wonderful, great arch support and well padded. The heel cup and achilles pad fit right and the lacing system was 2-part so you could anchor the forefoot for unstable ground or slopes and still have a somewhat loose upper lace so your leg could flex adequately or lock your upper laces to keep your heel from slipping and causing blisters. The toe rand wrapped up high enough to protect the boot as well as your toes. The tongue was gusseted high enough to keep out debris and tucked in properly to lay smoothly against the top of the foot, no wrinkles. The soles were nice and grippy and appeared to be "walk clean" or "self cleaning", the lugs were deep enough to give you good traction in rocks and scree but not mud-eaters that would weigh a ton if you were walking on a sloppy trail or through a muddy trough. They were stable too, I think they'd be great for backpacking, providing the stability under you that a weighty pack needs.
