All items are 100% functional to their individual characteristics and limits. The pot in the aluminum HE cook set had two very small "dents" in the bottom, and corresponding imperfections in the inside non-stick finish. They are of no consequence regarding performance and minor compared to what will likely happen over time and use. Boil time for 16z of tap water with a full fuel canister, 1050 elevation, 80 degrees F, and lid on was 2 minutes. I must say that the "owner's manual", printed in nearly all the known languages of the planet is needlessly thick for a simple product.
While the lid/pan may be handy for backpacking "cookers", it is bulky and wasted weight for "boilers" like me. I would love to have a simple, thin lid only so I could leave the other at home.
Pros:
- Exactly as advertised
- functionally super

Researched all over different individual stoves and cookset. Found Optimus Crux with HE cookset packaged together at a very resonable price. Love it, make sure using the HE pot to have liquid in the pot when on stove. Heats fast. small compact and light on weight.

This stove is just what I was looking for. Wanted to stay away from jet boil after seeing a friend replace it 3 times in a year. This set is awesome and there is enough space inside the cook set to keep a zippy and/or fire starter. Happy with my purchase so far

The reason for buying was to reduce weight in the backpack. Used it this weekend. Boiled 16 oz of water in one minute ten seconds. I am 54 years old was a boy scout in the sixtys. This is the best cook set I have owned. If you don't have one buy one you will not be disappointed.

It was between this stove and the Jetboil. I chose this one because of the more versatile cookware included. It packs up nice, boils water fast and covered the needs of 4 adults easily for a weekend backpack trip. I may give it 5 stars after some more use at higher altitudes and colder temperatures.

Decided to go ultra light after 5 days in the Bridger with a 75lb pack. Down to 23lbs now and it feels like freedom! Volume is almost as important as weight and the Optimus Crux is the best I've found in both areas.

This is a very compact unit, well designed and you can fit a lighter, wind shield, snow peak spork and chopsticks inside with a bit of thought. I only use it for boiling water, rather than cooking directly in the pot/saucepan. The plastic covered handles may melt with time, but so far so good. The only con is that the way in which it is packaged from the factory. The burner tends to move around ca

This is an excellent unit. Extremely small and very dependable. I would buy it again if I needed to. This is one of the best $$deals$$ out there if not the best. I would recommend this to anyone that back backs or camps.

Easy to simmer, nice and light. Kit also comes with storage neoprene storage pouch if using just the burner and fuel canister together with a diff set of cookware. Well thought out design. The swivel joint however, allows for a degree or two of play which could pose slight instability when using large cookware or when boiling over 1L of water. This being said, it is a great stove!
