I got the Osprey Transporter 130 to carry my loaded backpack and gear across country by plane. For years I've used the largest Patagonia Blackhole at the maximum weight of fifty pounds of gear. Getting on in years I found it increasingly difficult to carry this through the airport via it's handles or accessory strap. The design of the Osprey is brilliant with real backpack straps that are hidden away. The problem is it' not nearly as big as advertised. The Black Hole (25 years old) was rated at 120-130 liters, I'd say the Osprey is at least a third smaller. No way can it carry fit my gear for a month long expedition.
Pros:
great design
Cons:
not as big as advertised
Best Used for:
shorter trips

I've never been disappointed. The Transporter duffles are simple and roomy and sturdy. I love that I can sling it on as a backpack if that makes it easier to carry. Otherwise, it's just a great duffle. I have them in all three sizes and use them all the time.
