In my experience, the echo shirts are the best all around for hiking and ultralight backpacking. While they are not super sturdy, they hold up well with reasonable care. I haven't found anything lighter. Good sun protection. And they dry really really quickly if you get rained on or if you just want to rinse one out. I pair it with a lightweight hiking pant or skirt and have the lightest easiest backpacking clothing. Maybe a pair of long johns and I'm good to go! Great product. I own about 10 in long and short sleeve and also the hoodie.
Pros:
- Ultralight
- Good fit
- dry quickly
- wicking
Best Used for:
- HIKING
- Ultralight backpacking
- running

Fit is true to size, not to loose or to tight, length is great for low back coverage while climbing. The breathability is great for warm days with added benefit of sun protection. Works as a base layer for warmth or wear alone on cooler days. Raglan sleeve and side panel allow for range of motion in movement while hiking with a pack

Love it! Typical awesome quality from Outdoor Research. Just what I was looking for to wear while thru hiking in the desert. It provides great coverage for protection from the sun, but it feels cool, breathable, and comfortable. The closest I can come to finding a criticism is that it's plain... I'm fine with the way it looks, though. The Banff color may be sightly more muted than it appears on screen. I typically wear size medium, and this was generously relaxed but not overly baggy for me in size medium.

Echo shirts are extremely light weight making them ideal for warm weather hiking. I have a short sleeve version but wanted a long sleeve so I can keep the sun off my arms. Another plus is the tiny amount of space taken up in a suitcase if traveling for many weeks. I have not found another long sleeve athletic shirt that is this light weight.

Echo Tee from Outdoor research is my favor tee for summer activities. I bought several short sleeve tee in different colors. This is my first time to try the long sleeve tee. I love the light weight, fast dry material and very comfortable to wear on. The long sleeve version adds sun protection for arms so I do not need to wear extra arm protection sleeve. I also used it as base layer for hiking during cooler days. It is so light weight that is perfect for ultra light backpacking

Sleeves are a little long and big around the wrists but I just turn them up. Great in hot weather hiking or biking. I would recommend this to a friend.

I normally use a Patagonia Capilene lightweight long sleeve baselayer as my summer backpacking shirt. I like the wicking and sun protection, but the fabric can feel heavy and clingy in hot weather. I've been looking for a lighter weight, cooler top with a slightly looser fit. This fits the bill. With UPF rating of 15, this won't be as sun-protective as the Capilene, but the nice cool feel of the fabric is worth it.
