Great Performance
In the 70s and 80's I wore fingerless gloves for certain activities. Convertible mitts replaced those. In the late 90s I bought convertible mitts and used them until last year. They weren't windproof and used Velcro® to secure the "flap". I glued replacement patches of hook-and-loop to the mitts when the original ones were worn. However, the fleece was warm. These OR mitts meet my cold weather backpacking and in-town needs. The magnetic securing system works very well. The Windstopper®Gore-Tex® membrane aptly blocks wind and keeps my hands dry in wet snow conditions. The grippy palm/finger surface is advantageous in certain situations and probably keeps the microfleece from wearing in the long run. Their warmth is individualistic. My hands have been exposed to 50 years of cold and exposure and thus, wish these mitts had thicker microfleece. Many reviews bemoan the thumb cover. It takes a little finagling to secure it airtight...a very minor issue.
Fit: I own the L size even though my hand size is not very large. The cuff diameter is on the small side so my hand doesn't slide into the mitt; that requires effort. My fingers are not fat and yet they fit snuggly in the mitt's fingers.
Suggestion: The fabric loop on the cuff should be a reflective color (e.g. yellow, orange).
