I really wanted to like these boxer briefs. Lightweight, packable, breathable, and moisture-wicking, what more could I ask for?
Well, after putting them through a handful of pitches and over twenty miles of hiking and running there are a couple of flaws that are just too annoying to ignore.
First off, these are just too baggy to be boxer briefs. The waistband fits fine, but they hang like regular boxers everywhere else. This gets to be somewhat annoying after the legs run up inside your harness leg loops for the tenth time. I could also see this issue leading to chaffing, however I didn't experience any of that during my hikes/runs.
The real annoyance, however, is the fly. I've run into this on other, cheaper, lightweight boxers but never as much as this. During an 8+ mile alpine hike I found myself adjusting the boxers to put my penis back through the fly way too many times to count (really, it was happening almost every minute on a few sections). I nearly stopped to take them completely off. There just isn't enough overlap of the fabric in the fly to stop this from happening so I'm probably just going to sew the fly up or return them.
