Are you are looking for a high quality, warm, lite vest? This is the one for you. As per other reviews, the sizing runs slightly small. If you are between sizes, definitely go up a size. Outdoor Research great product, good value
Pros:
- QUALITY
- weight
- Warmth
- Design

I bought this vest as a lightweight packable option for dealing with inclimate weather when backpacking and/or as a carry on-board for air travel. I also carry a OR Helium Jacket, and a Go-Lite wind shirt. Fit is standard, with plenty of torso length so plenty of room for layering. I walk home from work nightly, a distance of 5 km, so the inside spacious left and right stash pockets are great for storing my toque and gloves as a result of heating up on my journey. Finish was fine, with no manufacturing errors. For hanging the jacket on door hooks, etc. I would like to see more of a "rope" strap sewn into the neck of the vest rather than the "cloth" version now used - so as to be a bit more robust.

This vest with the sleek almost invisible Napoleon pocket is great, went to buy another one after it arrived and was out of my size!

The Transcendent vest has nice fit and features for me. At 5'8" and about 170, I'm a large medium/small large, and the size medium is good for layering over light items, but I need the size large for wearing over bulkier clothes. The soft neck interior and backhand side of the pockets are cozy, with the soft lining even on one side of the interior drop pockets. The drop pockets are what I really like about the Transcendent vest, as I find pockets like that an excellent feature for traveling. Where else can I keep my passport and boarding passes so handy? I like that the drop pockets are bisected, leaving a tall, slim (about two fingers wide) pocket close to the side seam for things like pens, etc.
What I did notice on the vests I received, is that the down in the collar had shifted over to one side, leaving the other side wanting, but that was easy to remedy.
The 650-fill down seems perfect for this non-bulky layer.
