Perfect for skiing

I absolutely love this jacket! It's long enough to wear with tights, but I prefer it as my second layer skiing. It feels great, breathes well, and it's flattering. I have other R1 shirts, but this was my first full zip jacket. I had a need for a zip jacket with my ski gear, especially on those days where it starts to get a little warm when the sun comes out. I highly recommend the R1!

Unwelcome changes to an old classic.

I’ve had R1 jackets for years. The changes made to the 2017 model are disappointing. First, sizing is completely different. My usual Medium looked like a bathrobe on me. The material also feels cheaper, as does the printed logo replacing the stitched one.

Feels weird

I like its performance but I find that the waffle design feels weird on my arms and looks weird if I am not careful with what I wear under it.

If you're on the fence about getting this (as I was), just get it, you won't be disappointed. It's not bulky like other fleece jackets and seems to be pretty warm. Sizewise, it's true to Patagonia's jacket sizing (if you've every tried the nano puff, etc.). I am 5'1 and about 105lbs and got the XS. Def not too tight- there's room for a thin layer underneath. The fit is flattering- it's nice to have a jacket that doesn't feel so unisex. I have yet to try it out in super cold temps, but I'm pretty confident it will do the trick. My problem on my last trek was having some many bulky layers. I think this will solve that.
