Petzl is obviously a good name so how can you go wrong. In the day and age of new and light weight carabiners, it is a little on the heavy side. When you need a high strength steel carabiner, this one is top notch at 38kn. Already used (in training) on a high line setup.
Pros:
- Steel
- High Strength
- tri-lock

This Petzl Oxan carabiner is essentially the steel high strength version of their OK carabiner (aluminum), and it uses the same mold as their latest OK carabiner. I purchased these Petzl Oxan steel carabiners for multiple reasons. For it's higher strength exceeding that of any other parts I use them for my car toeing kit. Another reason is for the rock climbing anchor point that have a heavy wear for top rope setup. Of course it is much heavier than its aluminum version OK, but it has its place in the right situation. The lock and gate action are as smooth as any other Petzl products and the oval shape is very spacious and versatile.
