General ice axe - Petzl Summit Evo Ice Axe

The Summit Evo is a good general ice axe. However, I thought it was a little heavy. In addition, I didn't really like the textured spray on the handle. It seemed to me that it would wear off over time. In my opinion there are other ice axes out there at a better price point. Blue Ice offers a similar ice axe approximately 50g lighter, great swing, better textured grip design, $40 cheaper, and get this....you get a sliding pommel, pick and adze protector, and a spike protector GRATIS. Nobody offers that..but it makes perfect SENSE.
