Petzl Ultra Headlamp
It works. It's tough. It lasts. It's one bright headlamp. You don't need to adjust the beam--it lights every thing up anyway. For anything around 30 feet or so use the lowest power setting. It's worth every penny.

Great for Rogaining (24-hr orienteering)
I bought this headlamp to use for Rogaining (24-hr Team Orienteering.) Teams of two have 24 hours (noon to noon) to visit as many checkpoints as possible. Headlamp Was Defective
The headlamp was defective right out of the package. The light would turn off when the headband was stretched. I believe the wire between the battery and the lamp was defective. I expected better quality control from Petzl on such an expensive item. I hope the replacement is functional. [...]

Unreal power from such a compact headlam
Great for night time hard out downhill bush running. Gives good vision on the darkest nights running through the bush. It is upgradeable to larger battery and also a back harness/pack that will also carry water which is another must have out there.
