Most Helpful Positive Review Lightweight durable lantern
I recently used this lantern on a winter backpacking trip for some extra warmth in an adirondack shelter. I was really impressed by the size and weight of this lantern. It put off some heat and provided hours of light. It is not quite as bright as a regular headlight, but was bright enough to light up the inside of the shelter. The included cable is handy and works great for hanging it. The stuff sack is a bit bulky for backpacking, but would help keep the mantle dry. Long term I see myself using this mostly for short car camping trips.

classic lantern

by Gary, Verified Owner from OR, United States Written on January 5, 2023
Very classic lantern from PRIMUS , with high quality and simple design, Works great as it should be, the stainless design is durable than glass and much more easy to pack. But 235 Lumen is not very light, not as easy light.
Pros:
  • durable
  • light weight,
Cons:
  • 235 Lumen is not very light,
Best Used for:
  • Hiking, camping

Light and bright.

by Mikeycat, from IL, United States Written on May 11, 2022
I love this little lantern. It's compact and burns bright for the size. I liked it so much I now own 3. Output about 800 lumens (60w bulb equivalent). I've thought about getting a Lindell adapter for running it off of 16oz tanks so I could get more nights off a tank. Metal mesh globe means no shattered glass to worry about
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • compact
  • No glass
Cons:
  • Burns through fuel faster than a stove but that's true of any lantern
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking
  • Campouts

it's very good stuff

by coolj, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on November 25, 2020
Delivery was very fast, and the product was also very satisfactory.

It is easy to use, has sufficient brightness, and is very small and light in storage and carrying.

It is satisfactory because there is not much fuel consumption.

Defective out of the box

by Tim W, Verified Owner from WA, United States Written on August 9, 2019
This lantern arrived today and will be winging its way back tomorrow. The problem? The piezo igniter failed after the first spark. Well, someitmes it does spark but the spark is so tiny it actually won't light the lantern so I'm guessing the piezo doesn't generate enough juice to create a big enough spark. (It lights fine with a match or lighter).

Other than that, the lantern seem to be everything it's advertised to be—as well as a really compact space heater. I've asked to exchange it for a new one so I'm hoping this is a rare problem.

Glad I purchased the lamp

by Woody, from MD, United States Written on April 14, 2018
The lamp is small , lite weight but very brite. I found it very easy to operate. I can not wait for my first real test as the season get ready for camping. The added heat you will get from the lamp while tent camping during the early spring and late fall is an extra bonus. The cable with the hook makes the lamp very easy to hang from a tree limb out of the way of being hit and notched over. Again it is so lite weight it will not break a small tree limb.
Pros:
  • Size and weight
Cons:
  • Make sure you keep extra bags to replace as needed
Best Used for:
  • For camp and also for emergency power outages.

Great for canister stove users

by Michael N., Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 17, 2016
Light and durable. No glass to break. I just wrap it in some soft stuff. I canister can cook several dinner / breakfasts and still have plenty of fuel for two nights of cards or just hanging out

Micron size, Major light

by Dan H., Written on August 14, 2015
perfect light for the backpack hunter. Get your bull elk or muley buck ready for the pack out without blinding your buddies with a headlamp. Great for after dark meals and pre- daylight mornings. Worth 4-1/2 ounces.

Powerful little light source!

by Mr. Green, Written on May 5, 2014
This lantern is well designed, and easy to use. It puts out plenty of warm light. If you already use a butane/propane canister stove, the lantern makes a great addition to your gear. It stores nicely in the supplied plastic container, and is well protected.
