Neil E.'s Review of Primus Omni Lite Ti with Fuel Bottle

Well made and when running (clean) it has high output and also simmers well. It is lightweight and the stove folds small to store inside a small pot.

However my nickname for this stove is that it's "my expensive Swedish watch". It is well engineered... almost too much so. What do I mean? Along the fuel train it has a lot of connections each in brass with very precise, high count threads. This is not, IMO, the best for field service and repair that always seem to occur in the half-light or even the dark. The composite threads on the pump interface to the liquid fuel bottle are even intentionally canted ~15 deg. Not sure why that was done... other than the designer wanted to add his/her own style points for the fuel pickup method on the 'bottom' of a horizontal bottle. The unconventionality of that highly unique feature alone underscores this product, because it isn't an advisable or desirable design solution when the threading has to be practiced by a general user. My key complaint with this stove is that, when using high-quality white gas, the jet and flame adjuster soots up too quickly which cuts the performance considerably. I now find myself going through a multi-step jet cleaning process prior to firing this stove up just to ensure that it'll operate at a good output. And I am aware of the stove shut down process and follow that each time. That helps, but this stove requires regular man-minutes of maintenance to perform well. Keep that in mind.

At a bottom line... would I buy this stove again if I had all this experience prior to my purchase? Honestly... probably not. I'd probably go with a MSR or Optimus competitor and see how those fare. Now that I own it... I can make it work for me, so I'll keep it. My old stove is not manufactured anymore, so transition to a newer design had to happen.
