I have used this headlamp for many years,it is flawless, durable, and very impressive,Well constructed,(rugged) You don't need to worry about heading out to the trail with this headlamp, it's a real preformer. As far as using it in extreme cold weather is concerned, simply put lithium batteries inside of it, and this reliable piece of equipment will do it's job flawlessly., and the batteries never run down very fast. Don't put cheep batteries in it, because your results could be way different. The best part of using this headlamp is, when I get up in the morning and want to make coffee, and breakfast, I have both hands free to prepare food, and drink. I can say if you want a headlamp for yourself, or for scouting, this one is great.
