Most Helpful Positive Review A knockout jacket with some minor issues for a regular Joe
I like and enjoy the outdoors, but cannot claim to be a technical climbing dude. I was hunting for a compact, low-bulk down jacket for the upstate New York winters. Contenders were Patagonia's sweater jacket, Mountain Hardwear Nitrous, and Marmot variations. I cross-shopped most online, while the MH...

Most Helpful Negative Review Nice jacket but didn't like the color
I like the jacket but the red was just to bold for me. Also, the armpits are a bit tight. I would have trouble layering under it and it would probably get annoying. The price is great so I could see this jacket working out for someone who likes the color.

Good jacket

by Carl, from IN, United States Written on March 2, 2019
I have 2 of these jackets. One is a 2018 model and the other is 2017 or before. On the new model they put side panels which seem like a good idea but it just adds more seams to leak down. I prefer the older model for that detail alone. The newer models have slanted hand pockets which don’t seem like a big deal but if you had both jackets you tend to notice the small differences. The newer one seems to have more down and is loftier, yet both are filled with 750 fill. Overall, I would recommend this jacket which is the older model. That being said, I would not recommend paying full price if you can. Retail is $250; I purchased both of mine for less than $150. My newer model is going back to see if the down leaking can be corrected because it seems at every seam there is a feather poking out.
Pros:
  • Pack Down Well
  • Light
Cons:
  • Leaks a little bit of feathers
Best Used for:
  • layering
  • Cool temperatures

Nice jacket but yes the arm pits are high

by b0ri, Verified Owner from NJ, United States Written on August 20, 2018
Jacket is well made but yet to be tested. And like most reviewers mention, the arm pits are placed quite high. They dont seem to bother me but was awkward at first. This fall will be the first time I will be wearing it.

Heavier than ‘microlight’ suggests

by Mark Hendey, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on November 11, 2017
Giving this 5* as it was definitely a quality jacket but just too heavyweight for my needs. Weighs 1lb and I was looking for something in the 8oz range (my fault for not reading!) I’m gutted because the fit was perfect. I’m 6’5” with 43” chest and 33” waist so find it really hard to get a good fit on shoulders and waist but this (Large) jacket fit really well.
Pros:
  • Well made
  • athletic fit
Cons:
  • None

This is my first Rab purchase. I got this jacket and an Interval ls tee and was impressed with both. Very well made jacket with quality materials. Unfortunately, the arms are a little loose.

Alastair J

Great jacket however the sizing around the waist is tight. Even placing the zipper together is difficult unless a size up is purchased. I bought 9 for our sales staff and every one required a size larger than they usually order. Once the size up was ordered the jacket fit. The jacket is a high quality down that packs to a very small size. Very warm jacketCampsaver was excellent to work with on the return and exchange.

Great

It is a bit snug under the armpit, but you start to get use to it after a week or so. I don't even notice it now.
