As a jacket junkie (yes, admitting it is the first step towards recovery), I've bought way too many jackets over the past 3 decades. This time, I was gearing up for the california rainy season, and for warmer ski days. I wanted a waterproof but extremely breathable shell. I also didn't want the shell to be "crinkle-y" nor too constricting. The Rab Myriad Jacket fulfilled and exceeded my expectations. Although a bit more baggy than I'd normally go for, the jacket is light, very "airy" and definitely waterproof. It's not the gnarly Goretex Pro type of jacket you take on a multi-day stormy weather adventure, (though you could), but excellent as a commuter, hike, resort skiing shell. The arms are long, and the hood (as all Rab hoods) fits well either over or under a helmet w/o restricting your peripheral vision. Highly recommended, but be aware it is NOT as insulating/windproof as a Goretex Pro shell.
