My DNA comes from a line that doesn't tolerate cold temperatures very well, so I have been hunting for a warm down jacket that can hold its own in single-digit and negative temperatures. The Rab Neutrino Plus is almost that jacket. There's lots of down packed into the jacket and the outer fabric looks very durable. The hood is especially warm (I don't like hoods with bendable wires in them, but I don't seem to mind it in this one). However, there is no insulation near the crooks of the elbows. This appears to be by design because both elbow crooks are like that. Perhaps this was to make the jacket more "flexible," but cold temperatures easily bite through the jacket at these two points, and it is definitely noticeable to me. Also, as with any Rab jacket (or so it seems from my experience), the zipper is a pain in the butt to zip up; most of the time I feel like a drunkard when I'm trying to get into the jacket.
