bought this jacket to handle the very cold temps we've been experiencing in NY (-3F to 20F). I want to be able to stand outside at the bus stop waiting with/for the kids, walk around nyc, stand around on the bunny slopes, etc... with just a t-shirt.
this jacket works perfectly to keep me warm.

Need:
*warm with only tshirt
*walking around nyc
*watching kids sledding/bus stop
*mainly min activity outside in very cold weather
Struggled with this vs. Montane Black ice... Bought this because:
*slightly wider cut (I'm 5'4" 42in chest)
*bigger hood
*tighter zipper (water resistant?)
*more fill weight (+1.7oz)
*longer in front
Wish it had:
*slightly less profile (but ok since I can layer this better)
*second midsection cord (around stomach like the montane)

Excellent jacket for very cold weather. I feel no drop off in temperatures in the low teens F. No cold spots on the jackets. Good length, almost parka. Nice regular fit, for those of us w/out the washboard abs. Hood is very warm. Heads up though: As is written in another post, the Men's L has a zipper that is on the wrong side by US usage.

This is a great high quality jacket that looks great too. It will easily keep you warm well below zero with the right layers and into the single digits with light layers. Will use it in Green Bay Wisconsin for those cold below zero Packer games. The zipper pull is opposite and on the left side for a man's since it is designed in England, like they drive on the left side of the road. The only thing that would make this jacket warmer would be box walled baffel construction throughout. The body has box walled baffels, but the arms do not. The box walled design is exactly what it states, an actual box with walls on the sides which allows the down to fluff up instead of being compressed by a stitched through the outside and inside design. The stitched through design compresses the down so there is little to no down at the point of stitching and allows more heat and cold transfers. That being said, this jacket is still super warm and almost too warm, but you can't go wrong with it. Love it!

I'm not sure what is going on with this jacket. Something English?
It seems like a nice warm coat. Wore it to work a couple of times when I walked and it was sub-zero. Toasty. Lots of people admiring it.
The strange things: 1: The zipper appears to be a women's. Wrong side. 2: It also does not appear to be baffled construction. There is a liner that helps. Maybe I have the wrong idea as to what baffling is.
I double checked the tags. It is a Rab Neutrino Plus Jacket. Packing slip says men's. Maybe that's why it was so cheap compared to other retailers and MSRP.

If I could just rate the "100% Satisfaction" policy, I would.
I ordered this jacket in September 2013. It's such a warm jacket that I really couldn't wear it until the end of December when temperature/conditions warranted.
The first time I wore the jacket in the colder weather, I could feel a tremendous amount of cold weather pouring in from the inner portion of the arms - where my elbows bent. I felt the area and all I could feel was nylon - no down. Because I'm an active ice climber, I needed the jacket for belay purposes. I called CampSaver and made a complaint. I was told to call Rab and file a warranty claim. At the end of March 2014, I sent the jacket to Rab for a warranty submission. I received the jacket back in the beginning of May. Again, too warm to verify the issue had been fixed.
Fast forward to this week. The temps here in New York have been in the teens. Perfect conditions to check-out my newly-fixed belay jacket. Bad news - Same issue!!!

This is by far the nicest down jacket/parka I have ever used. I live in Wisconsin and it gets COLD. I know it's a technical jacket made for hard and specialized use, but it works equally well as a winter jacket in cold climates. It was 10 degrees, -5 w/windchill, this morning and I was perfectly cozy while walking my dog. I'm confident that when the temps really begin to drop this jacket will only further prove itself. It's really allowing me to enjoy the cold weather without all the shivering and teeth chattering!! The jacket has a long cut, and is built to accommodate base and mid layers. I can wear a base layer, a fleece and this jacket without any issues. I can also wear it over just a t-shirt and be comfortable. Fore reference, I'm 6'5" 220lb and the XL fits me perfectly. The hem comes down to my crotch, and the tail covers 2/3rds of my butt. Love the fit.
