Fits my needs

by Richard D., Verified Owner from IL, United States Written on January 10, 2025
I own and love multiple Rab pieces. But I’ve been on the hunt for a down piece warm enough for belaying or backcountry camping that provided significant warmth with packability and function. It’s not ultralight but at just under 20 ounces on my scale it’s more than workable. The medium is a perfect fit for me ( 5 ft 11 in, 175 lbs with athletic build) with great mobility and arm length. With 7.5 ounces of 800 FP, it will work well for warmth. The hood has great adjustability and even though it adds some weight, I like the Velcro wrist cuff adjustment. The 20D Pertex Quantum Pro is a nice compromise of durability without too much of a weight penalty. All in all it hits on all the important characteristics for me- warmth, acceptable weight and durability, packable and great functionality.
Pros:
  • QUALITY
  • Packable
  • Warmth
Cons:
  • Weight

Lefthand zipper

by Rik, Verified Owner from CO, United States Written on October 23, 2024
The jacket itself seems fine, but I was really aggravated after receiving it in the mail, trying it on, and realizing the zipper was on the left, like a woman's coat. It specifically says "Male" in the description. Same thing happened a couple years ago when I ordered a Decathlon jacket, but it cost a fourth of what I paid for this Rab so I wasn't surprised.

It'll work but I won't buy anything from them again.

Incredibly warm and functional jacket!

by KayentaLover, from UT, United States Written on January 5, 2023
After much research and having previously owned a lighter-weight Rab jacket, I sprung for this pricey Neutrino Pro jacket for outdoor winter activities in the Utah mountains and desert. After a month of frequent use, I can honestly say it is the warmest and most comfortable cold weather jacket I have ever owned. Has a greater volume of 800 fill power down than any other jacket I've owned or tried, and in concert with the wind and water resistant outer, provides unsurpassed protection from the cold. Sheds light rain and snow very well. The pre-bent sleeves make for unrestricted arm movement. The hood is extremely roomy and requires using the limit of its adjustments to fit around an un-helmeted head, but is toasty warm and the brim stiffener is a nice touch. Sleeves and hem adjustments are excellent. Pockets are very warm.
I am 5'7" tall and 155 pound with an athletic build, and the size Medium fits a bit loosely and allows for layering of a heavy sweater or fleece jacket beneath.
The only issue I've had is pulling away a bit of the baffle stitching in the sleeve while donning the jacket with keys in my hand. I would have expected more durable stitching to go with the otherwise excellent materials and workmanship.
Pros:
  • Warmth, freedom of movement, water and wind resistance
Cons:
  • Overly roomy hood
Best Used for:
  • MOUNTAINEERING
  • cold weather hiking
  • downhill skiing
