All is good with this jacket, although I have not used it out and about yet. The materials, fit and finish are good. Zippers are probably overkill on it though.
I'm 6'2'' tall 165 and 38 chest with narrow shoulders. with a baselayer, wool sweater and midweight puffy underneath it binds under the armpits and at the elbows. I'm well within the rab size guidelines for a large though.
I had the same problem with a mammut.
I thought alpine shells were supposed to fit anything from a baselayer to a big puffy underneath. Apparently not. Apparently you're supposed to have sticklike arms and shoulders but be normal everywhere else.
So depending on what you'll wear underneath consider bumping up a size...however I have not tried the xl yet so I can guarantee that statement.
It is a very nice looking jacket with quite an enormous hood though. I think you could wear two helmets underneath it.
Pros:
None
Cons:
Fit
overly chunky zippers
