Good, but short of 5 stars
The pluses:
Deep pockets
Nice length to stop wind from creeping in below
Very warm chest, stomach and back area
Good hood
The bad:
Arms are not warm enough (this alone prevents 5 stars)
The jacket feels like an ultra-fantastic down vest married to the somewhat anemic sleeves of a down sweater. When the wind blows, I feel it in the arms (which are not especially padded, and are not box construction). Next version perhaps Rab can up the ante on the arms a bit? That would make it a fantastic 5 star winter jacket.

Worthy 6,000 meter jacket
I already own the Rab Neutrino Plus, from which this jacket supposedly is a refinement. I used the Neutrino Plus as a belay/summit jacket on a recent trip to Bolivia with great success. I was never cold in it, and we had some very cold summits. The Positron shares the same fill weight, but really is in its own class. It is lighter by 4 ounces (on my digital scales at home), uses water resistant down, has a much trimmer cut, and uses a mix of box wall and sewn through construction. My older Mountain Hardwear Nilas jacket also uses the same mixed construction and I have never felt that my arms were colder than the rest of my body, although the Neutrino Plus generally is a much warmer jacket than the Nilas. I haven't had the chance to use the Positron in actual climbing conditions yet, but Rab gear is among the best and I won't hesitate to take this jacket with me to Peru this summer. I may update after that trip. Many thanks to Campsaver for their great service and awesome prices!
Pros:
- Light weight
- trim fit
Cons:
- less room for layers
Best Used for:
- 6,000 meter peaks
- colder conditions

Great Belay Jacket
Used it for the first time this past weekend while ice climbing. Temps were in the teens and it kept me nice and toasty while belaying. Love the double zipper as it accommodated the large amount of gear hanging from my harness. The size large fit well over multiple layers. The included stuff sac will come in handy when belaying on multi-pitch routes. Great investment!

Excellent.
I live in northern Ontario Canada on the North shore of Lake Superior. This leads to really bad wind chill and a dampness in the air even when it's -40C. This jacket has kept me extremely warm, and even comfortable in those kinds of temperatures numerous times for extended periods. Super light and well made. 10/10 would buy again.

Great jacket - super warm and built for layering. Can't wait to try it at high altitude.
