These shoes fit comfortably right out of the box. I have a pair of the Salewa Firetail EVO mid height boots and they are just great, good looking and comfortable shoes.

These seemed comfortable and light when I got them out of the box, however, I found little cushion and support. The traction seemed to be great and they were pretty comfortable but just not for me. I'm assuming they break in nicely based on the reviews I've read but when I first put them on the break at the toe was extremely stiff and sharp making it very uncomfortable. I returned them.

I used the Salewa Firetail EVO GTX Hiking shoe for a trip up into the Teton mountain range. 15 miles round trip to the glacial moraine below The Grand Teton via the Garnet Canyon trail from Lupine Meadows Trailhead, this includes 6,000' of elevation gain, and varying temperatures and trail conditions. These held up very well the only change I made was to a difference lace. I prefer a traditional boot lace. I had no blisters. I weigh 250 and was carrying an overloaded 60 lb pack full of climbing and camera equipment walking on dirt trails, dirt/rock trail mix, all loose rock trails, boulder field scrambling, some minor class 3/4 and 5 climbing in these. They stick very well on the wet stuff and everything else. They are comfortable any day and considering the climb very comfy. With this type of climb, conditions, and total climber weight with gear, all shoes will leave you with some pain or discomfort but I was surprised at the rapid recovery. No blisters is a big deal when your in the back country. Rain turning into verglas prevented a summit bid but they would have likely gone to the top without issues via the Owen Spalding Route. Next year another climbing season and I will likely use these or the new version of them. I have about 100 trail miles on them so far and it took only 15-20 to get them just right. Being able to stand in shallow water or snow to cool the feet is nice! It doesn't matter if I have Gortex or not, my feet get hot, so having dry cool feet is a plus.

The product is really amazing.
Goretex works like a charm(just tested it under "normal" rain conditions, no heavy storms yet.
support and internal framework are simply great, you can really feel the support system and the effort on the design.
It really makes you wanna go outside and run and climb everything
Size was a bit bigger than i expected. If i had know i would have bought half a size smaller probably.
The inner sole options for me, are only acceptable with the full set up. Using just parts of it doesn't feel enough
My only downside so far is how hot the shoe gets. I know Goretex make all footwear hotter but a day's walk in 30° makes it quite warm down there
