Finally got a chance to use this quilt. Took it with me and camped over night in the foot hills below Mary's peak in the siuslaw nation forest. temps got down into the high 30s. as soon as I got under this quilt I was toasty warm. parts of the night I slept partially uncovered, was wearing a thermal upper and light wool sweater with my hiking pants and no thermal bottoms. slept on top of an un-insulated klymit static v (r 1.7). Suffered a a lot of condensation that night, shell did start to soak through. but the down dried right out the next day.
My particular quilt had greater than 700 grade down, according to the traceable down label that came with my quilt.
I will say the down distribution could be a bit better in the mid section.

The design of this quilt is awesome! The distribution of down throughout the sewn-in baffles is not so great. There is plenty of down in the foot box and hand pockets, but there are several baffles in the mid-body area with very little (not enough) down, even after laundering and fluffing. With a better job of distributing the down, this quilt would be a solid five-star product.

For the last two backpacking seasons I have using a quilt instead of a sleeping bag as part of my plan to be more comfortable and lighten my gear. The pockets for your hands and the opening for your head are a logical evolution for backpacking quilts for dealing with chilly nights. I have not used the quilt yet on a trip but I look forward to how it will perform in cool spring weather.
