Failed hard on the PCT

by Tony, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on May 12, 2022
I thought this was a good pack, but actual use proved otherwise. The sliding chest strap popped off the first day and it is not fixable. The bulging pads on the back are awkward as is the zipper top. The pockets on the shoulder straps are way too high and I could not use them, plus they made wrapping a improvised chest strap impossible. I ditched this pack into the hiker box at Montezuma Valley Market where I got an ULA Catalyst. Do not but this pack.

Sierra Designs Flex Capacitor

This is a good pack for the price. The weight is low and it will handle 50 lbs and a bear canister. The top zipper is weird, but it leaves a flat top to tie down extra items. It does not have an exterior mesh pocket for wet or quick reach items, but a mesh bag ca be attached easily. As with nearly all packs, I find the hip pockets just don’t go far enough forward but they are accessible.

Runs large

by BT, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on September 23, 2021
I’m an 18” torso in about 10 other packs I’ve owned (and as measured). The M/L should have fit, but I would say it is 20” minimum. It was way too tall for me. I also had the M/L belt, and while it fit, I could have worn the S/M which sizing suggested I was borderline for. I returned the pack without using it, and if they had the S/M in stock I would have purchased. Be aware the current S/M pack listed is actually a L/M torso and S/M belt, I almost exchanged it for the same pack. The pack felt good otherwise, I really wanted it to fit, like I said I would buy the S/M torso version if in stock. Wish I could write a trail review, but my advice is buy small if you are at all borderline between sizes.
