Sierra Designs Nightwatch 2 Tent - 2 Person, 3 Season
Here’s my initial review of the Nightwatch 2 recently purchased from Campsaver. As I haven't had a chance to test it out in the woods, this review will be confined to first impressions, assessment and info not included in the description. I’ll submit a performance review after field testing.
I was looking for an affordable tent for summer canoe/backpacking camping and had researched and A/B’d a range of comparable options, finally narrowing my choice down to the Nightwatch and Kelty TN2. Despite concluding the Kelty’s pole-structure would probably be more robust than the NW2 in high winds, I...

I love everything about this tent. From the way it is packaged to the ease of set up to the special features. I love the attached fly making it easy to star gaze and then quickly roll down the rain fly to stay dry.The design of mostly netting makes the air circulate nicely. I love the side doors for easy gear storage access and they are large enough to use as an entry way when the fly is up. I love the lantern to put your head lamp in for lighting. I love the large entry door. I love the small pockets inside to have what you need at your fingertips. This is a great one person tent. If sleeping two, it would need to be someone you are intimate with since the width is narrow. I wonder why the manufacturer discontinued this great tent.

Great purchasing experience. I'm from Canada, and everything went smoothly with my order (and it ended up being cheaper than buying it in Canada). In regards to the tent, it's amazing. Super light weight and ultra compact. I'm upgrading from a Eureka Midori 3, and I must say it is quite the improvement. Sierra Designs really goes the extra mile with the little details. For instance, the pole pouch is attached to the tent bag. This allows the poles to neatly fold up along with the tent, and prevents the pole bag from blowing away when setting up.
If you're thinking about buying this tent, it is definitely a 1-man tent (or 2-man if you don't mind cuddling all night). I expected this, so for me it worked out. Overall this is an awesome tent and worth every penny.
Note for new buyers: They do warn you that the entrance pole will be tense when trying to insert it into the grommets. I second this comment, there is an extreme amount of tension on this front pole (it feels like you're going to break something). But not to worry, nothing will break or rip.
