Joe's Review of Sierra Designs Nitro UL 20 Sleeping Bag 800 DriDown

I have yet to use this sleeping bag in the outdoors, but I believe it will meet my needs. I have a below zero expedition bag, but it is an overkill for summer time camping in the mountains of Colorado. I think the temp rating will be more suitable. I would have liked the zipper to have extended a few more inches further toward the foot area, and also not be have the zipper come apart - I think getting it back together again might be problematic at night when you are cold. So we'll see. Also, the opening at the bottom of the bag to stick your feet out and cool off is a new concept and it will be interesting to see if cold air seeps in when you don't want that ventilation. For a mummy bag, it does appear to be adequately roomy, I would have hated to pay full price for this bag, but when I found a 25% off sale, I felt it was worth the expense.
Pros:
  • Very lightweight
Cons:
  • zipper comes apart at the bottom
Best Used for:
  • moderate temperatures
Would Recommend: Yes
