Most Helpful Positive Review My new go to bag for mid spring through late fall
Originally posted on SD's web site: A big upgrade for my gear and a BIG HURRAH for Nate M. in customer service First about the bag. I received my new Nitro 800 / 20 today and here are my first impressions. After fluffing it up I inspected it carefully. The fabric quality and workmanship are top shelf single malt, so what I expect from SD. Upon reading the fill specification before ordering it I was a bit hesitant as to whether this bag would fill my need, but I'm pleasantly surprised. The fill is proportionate to where it's located. Good product

I have yet to use this sleeping bag in the outdoors, but I believe it will meet my needs. I have a below zero expedition bag, but it is an overkill for summer time camping in the mountains of Colorado. I think the temp rating will be more suitable. I would have liked the zipper to have extended a few more inches further toward the foot area, and also not be have the zipper come apart - I think getting it back together again might be problematic at night when you are cold. So we'll see. Also, the opening at the bottom of the bag to stick your feet out and cool off is a new concept and it will be interesting to see if cold air seeps in when you don't want that ventilation. For a mummy bag, it does appear to be adequately roomy, I would have hated to pay full price for this bag, but when I found a 25% off sale, I felt it was worth the expense.
Pros:
  • Very lightweight
Cons:
  • zipper comes apart at the bottom
Best Used for:
  • moderate temperatures

Roomy Comfort

I was excited about the weight on this bag but UL bags are usually a bit too tight for me. I was ecstatic when I got in this for the first time and I could actually take a full breath. It has been really comfortable and I'm excited to get more time with it in the mountains this year.
