What is there really to say?
Smartwool is the OG and their products are the standard others are judged by. The question should only be: has their quality fallen off? It has not. There may be other brands that have a good balance of price and value (in one way 100% merino is the same across the spectrum) but if you have the coin you (still) can’t go wrong with Smartwool
Pros:
- OG
Cons:
- Price
Best Used for:
- Daily wear in cold

Smartwool 250 Bottoms
Smartwool is the way to go for baselayers, not to mention their 2 year guarantee, as opposed to the 1 year offered by companies like Minus 33 or Icebreaker, the latter of which is more expensive. At 6'1", 170 lbs. with a 32" waist, a medium fits perfectly, though I do wish Smartwool would offer their bottoms and tops in tall.
Pros:
- warm and breathable for active use
- doesn't itch
Cons:
- NONE

Feel Great
I've used this underlayer several times.. The fit and feel is excellent. I'm tall and thin, 6'4", 35x34 pants, the large size fits me perfectly.

A gift for my dad
I got these for my dad as a gift ahead of a ski trip. I have a pair of the women's and love them, so I know my dad will too. The color is actually darker than I expected but I think that's a good thing! More of a grey-brown color than a tan-taupe one.

Top shelf
Wore for skiing in very humid 20 degrees and then dry and 8 degrees for ice climbing. Warm, breathable and they do no bind up or curl down at the shins/ankles when placing them in ski boots. Also, no stank. Great.

Nice Lite Bottom
General: These are good lite bottoms. The fabric is a bit thin in my opinion for a mid-weight, not as heavy as my mid Smartwool Bottoms, but once under clothing they seem to retain heat well. I’m keeping them as part of my layering kit.
Fit: I’m 6’5” and 230 pounds. The Large size fit my 36” waist fine. Legs are a little short for my 37” inseam but this is not a tall size so that’s expected. Waist band and ankle bands are comfortable.
Durability is to be determined but so far I so no reason to suspect a problem. They are thin and will have to be protected by over-clothing as designed.

Excellent mid layer.
I wear this and the matching top as a mid layer under a silk base layer and a Gore-tex un-lined ski pant. Very soft and warm. I wasn't cold in 15 degree mountain temps.
