Kenji Scott's Review of Snow Peak Cast Iron Duo Cooker
I have not used the set yet, but I did unpack it and spent some time simply admiring the quality, construction, and envisioning all of its uses while at camp, or at home, but mainly camp. Firstly, it's incredibly lightweight, which is the hallmark of SP cast iron -- it has the same cooking properties of cast iron but simply much lighter and compact with all 4 items nesting compactly into one and weighs less than just one of most other brand's cast iron. Done, that's all I needed to know to start the process of replacing all of my camp cookware with SP cast iron wherever possible. So this set is for day to day usage of the 4 main campers that I have at base camp, it probably covers breakfast, lunch, and snack time for almost everything. I plan to use the pot for mainly white rice, but also soups or frying a handful of chicken strips or dumplings. I have larger SP and other branded cast iron and stainless steel for dinner and larger festivals with more base-campers and guests/visitors. I think this set plus a 10 inch frying pan, 10 inch cast iron oven, and 2-burner set up would cover most family of 4 camping trips and I am extremely happy to be carrying this set with me.
Pros:
Cast iron so it should last a long time.
Compact & light weight
Cons:
Expensive
Best Used for:
Home & Camp
Would Recommend:
Yes
