I bought this stove to replace a canister top-type stove, which worked fine but A) was unstable, and B) ineffective in the wind. This stove solves both these problems. It takes longer to set up, weighs a little more, takes up a bit more space (but not as much as you'd think), but stability and the ability to invert the canister make up for these shortcomings. It also simmers well, so you can do more than just boil water on it. The collapsible wind screen and base plate are a bit gimmicky and I'm concerned about their long term durability, but only time and use will tell.
