Most Helpful Positive Review Simplicity is the key to brilliance
This is a foolproof Lantern - no mantles to lose or break or need. The light output is not as much as you would get from a mantled lantern, but I am fine with that. I can't tell you how many times I need a mantle to get light & had none with me. This is a simple & effective lantern. See the light & ...

Most Helpful Negative Review I can feel the warmth.
The Snow Pick product was purchased for the first time. The finish is good, the packaging is good, and it feels stable. These days, familiar with electricity, the small light delivered by gas has the power to attract everyone. I want to get along a lot through camping in the future. However, it w...

In a good light

by Chizmoto, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on October 27, 2024
It has a nice illuminating flame, giving off a golden glow that sets the mood for camping or hanging out in the back yard looking up at the the stars. My wife and I find it makes for a nicer atmosphere that's ideal for dining. Too bright of lighting like LEDs makes food look less appetizing. It's bright enough to light the picnic table. It provides just enough area lighting to navigate around the campsite. I don't miss the high intensity noisy, hissing gas mantle lanterns that drown out all of natures beautiful sounds. If a work light is needed, I'll reach for my headlight. From reading some reviews about the flame being too small, I think some may not be aware of the flame adjuster feature that works quite well. Yes, the flame is small when the cartridge is almost empty. But all of my IsoPro cannister camp appliances will not perform at their best with a near empty fuel can. That's to be expected
Pros:
  • Compact size, quality
Cons:
  • Have not found one yet
Best Used for:
  • Camping, backpacking, beach, backyard
Would recommend: Yes

Great piece of kit

by Frank, from FL, United States Written on November 14, 2019
Great little piece of kit. Great for when you want lower light but can be bright enough to see what's going on in your immediate area and even read by if you need to. It is also easy to use. Would be good for finishing off fuel canisters before disposing of them.

Good for power outages... and camp ambiance

by BobS, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on April 22, 2019
Yeah yeah, I know you shouldn't use these indoors. Guess candles are out too then. For me, they (I have two) are a nice back-up in case of a power outage. Also, when in in a car-camp, they add some really nice ambiance to a dining picnic table. Don't think I'd mess with them backpacking.

Good:
Excellent engineering and a solid product that produces some nice light.
They sip fuel.

Bad:
The light output is the equivalent of one candle (hard to read a book by it).
They are quite prone to blowing out in a breeze.

Bottom line:
I'm happy with the purchase, and would buy again if I had a need.
Pros:
  • Light
  • Well made
  • Fuel efficient
Cons:
  • Not good in windy conditions
  • Low light output
  • Glass surround may not be durable
Best Used for:
  • Power outages
  • Campsite ambiance
  • Using up near-empty fuel tanks
Would recommend: Yes

Pretty cool

by James, from CA, United States Written on March 2, 2019
It’s a neat little faux candle. Flame control is managed by a decent regulator and air flow by turning the base of the shield. Simple to use and perfect for using up old fuel canisters. I use it primarily as a low level light source at night relaxing around camp when a headlamp or full lantern would be overkill.

Flexible Candle lantern

by Neeman, from Israel Written on September 4, 2018
This is a variable light lantern
Can be adjusted from very low to higher
The light output is that of a candle lantern
The ambient light is very useful and does not create this crazy glare
This works if you are cooking with gas canisters, as you have the fuel already
Get this instead of a candle lantern
This is lighter than an UCO Candle lantern
Decide if you have a almost empty gas canister, as the lantern will run for hours off a dead for cooking canister
But then there is the weight penalty, so use the dead canister if you are car camping

Very easy to light
No liquid wax
Need to move it
turn it off move it and light it
Need to be out of the wind, as it is sensitive to wind

Snow peak has candle

by Desert paddler, from CA, United States Written on March 30, 2018
Awesome little light, well built and simple design. Like other reviewers say not as bright as a mantled lantern but nice ambience, I used to take a small hurricane lantern for this reason but it is ten times as big and there is always a chance of spilling lamp oil, not with this little guy! I didn’t make a windscreen for it which doubles as a reflector as it is more suspect to wind than a mantled or hurricane lantern.
Pros:
  • compact
Cons:
  • Not as bright as a lantern, suspect to wind
Best Used for:
  • Ambience

Mini Flame Lantern

by fj40, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on January 18, 2018
Awesome product, makes almost-empty fuel bottles useful again for a surprisingly long time! Fuel consumption is very low and air flow adjust really helps with fine tuning desired flame size. I sometimes wish it had an igniter, but that might sacrifice the simplicity of the design. Beautiful and useful product!
