Packable coffee brilliance

by Anonymous, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on September 22, 2017
There are several options for anyone desiring a collapsible coffee maker. We weren't moved by any of them until randomly seeing this one. The winning feature? - Metal. Thoughtfully designed, simple and uncomplicated. The metal makes for easy cleanup and we wager it'll last longer than other options on the market.

Why only 4-stars? I would give it 4.5 stars if this review system would let me. The design is somewhat tippy on mugs due to the springy design and the weight could be lower. That said, the weight isn't a major concern since this is for car camping only (we use micro-ground coffee on backwoods and climbing trips).

Given that we car-camp out of a small 2-door hatchback, the packability of all gear is important and this coffee maker wins.
Pros:
  • Packability
  • Metal makes for easy cleanup
Cons:
  • Spring design can be tippy on your mug
Best Used for:
  • Car Camping
  • A conversation-piece in your kitchen

Great for pour over lovers.

by Jamie M., Written on March 17, 2017
As I travel for work a lot and like to camp I wanted a compact and light pour over dripper to allow me to make excellent coffee away from home.

I had used a travel french press and Melitta plastic dripper but I prefer pourover and while the Melitta is light and easy to use it takes up space.

I use #2 flat bottom cone filters as that what is readily available at the grocery stores where I live. I have to fold it in such a way to create a point on the bottom of the filter and not a flat bottom.

Great purchase and I would buy another one if something happened to this.

Love it!

And so do my coffee loving camp mates. Way better than instant. Way less clean up than a coffee press. Compact and fun gadget.

Great camping coffee maker

by Shawn G., from OR, United States Written on September 21, 2015
I recently used this for a bike tour. I love how small and light this thing is! Pack it with a few filters in its mesh bag (included), and you'll never have to worry about having bad coffee on a camping trip. (So long as you remember to bring the coffee!) The only drawback is ironically its size: if you are pouring hot water from a wide-mouth pot (which you probably will if you are camping), it's pretty easy to spill water outside the filter area, and if you pour too fast, the water will come up over the filter, meaning grounds can get into your cup. So be patient in the pouring process!
