Large, lightweight but with issues
I search extensively for a lightweight tent but with standing headroom exclusively for motorbike touring and camping. The world and his dog all know that an advertised 4-person tent really means 2 people with baggage.
So I chose the EXPENSIVE Etesian 4 and bought it on Amazon costing around £400!! (It was new at the time).
First time trying to do a trial set-up at home the main backbone aluminium pole SPLIT rendering it USELESS. Luckily being a reasonably competent engineer i was able to repair the split using a couple of 1/2" hose clamps. It puts a small lump in the fabric after it's assembled but at least it was fixed. Luckily my repair is still good some years later but as a precaution I ALWAYS carry 6 or 7 hose clamps (jubilee clamps) with the tent in case of future problems.
General impressions are GOOD. It's a large tent with an excellent vestibule style separate under-cover area good for relaxing in even when it's raining. You can unzip the floor in the vestibule to keep it clean from muddy boots. There is a small 'canopy' outside the main zipper door which is so small to be practically useless. I wish this was 60 or 70cm bigger to provide a little more shade!
I wish the vestibule are had bigger windows though!
Easy to erect on my own. Light enough to carry on the back of my bike. But it's expensive.
