Man this is a sweet chair! I've had the older version of the thermarest chair for that I've had to fight over after a long day. This one's better - lighter, smaller, fits my exped downmat fine; and with the strap that goes across the bend in the seat, I can just use a single layer instead of folding the long pad in half & have a lounger. Now think about THAT on a winter trip..... Coffee in hand...

Do you really need it? That depends. If you like to give your back a guaranteed rest after days of hiking then spoil yourself, you deserve it. This chair rolls down nicely and can actually be rolled up and slept on with the pad/chair attached because of the open top. I am preparing to SOBO the AT in 2010 and intend to include this chair as part of my gear.
Yeah yeah yeah, carrying a chair 2,200 miles is nuts...or is it? This baby only weighs about as much as a couple of CLIF bars (6 ozs), so to me it is worth the carry. Plus I love the idea of multi-use gear (mattress for sleeping AND sitting comfortably).
Trust me when I say I LOVE having this chair to look

We were very dissatisfied with the durability of this product although it is quite comfortable to sit on! Therm-A-Rest can do much better! Both chairs that we purchased came apart on the first use. One of the stays punctured out of its pocket. The straps that connect the bottom to the back of the chair ripped apart. None of us are that big or heavy. Looks like Therm-A-Rest needs to reevaluate this
