Thermarest Questar 20

by Flyfishing in GSMNP, from NC, United States Written on September 6, 2018
Nicely made, great price and roomy. I'm 6' and 190 lbs and I bought the long. The straps for the pad are a good idea and I can toss and turn inside this bag. I prefer the loftier down but it's not really worth spending an extra $200 for saving four ounces
Pros:
  • price, large size
Cons:
  • bright green
Best Used for:
  • fall and spring

Incredibly Roomy, Comfy, and Warm Sleeping Bag...

by jasonlivy, from UT, United States Written on July 12, 2018
I'm incredibly impressed by this sleeping bag. Thermarest is relatively new to the sleeping bag world, but this bag is as nice as I've ever used. I especially like some of the new innovative features including the foot warmer (Thermarest calls it their 'ToeAsis'), sleeping mattress bands on the back of the sleeping bag (easy to place mattress in and allows me to sleep in the position I'm most comfortable...bonus...they are removable), generous dimensions (plenty of room to move inside the bag including sleeping very comfortably on my side), and the high-end materials and construction. The zipper never snags, it has huge draft tubes, really nice hood, includes waterproof down, and no velcro near my chin. There's so much to like!

One concern I had going into the purchase of this bag was warmth. Because of it's larger dimensions, and especially because of the mattress attachment (based on my bad experience with mattress 'sleeves') I was worried that the 20F ranking was overly optimistic. However, I have stayed toasty warm in temps down to 25F (don't like camping below this temp)! I believe this bag will last many years while maintaining it's warmth.

I also love that it is lighter weight and packs smaller than many in it's price range, even with all of these creature comforts. I could get a smaller, lighter, and much more expensive sleeping bag, but comfort matters to me, and at 2lbs 4oz (reg size) it is plenty light. Couldn't be happier with my purchase! Recommended for anyone...
